So what is "Shift"? "Shift" is a seven week in-debth bible study programme (based on Jacob’s journey from deception and selfishness to honesty and trust) which we will be launching on Sunday 29th January 2012. In Jacob's story the changes take place in small "shifts". We are shown that we too can overcome the struggles we experience in our own lives though similar small but significant shifts. We can embrace our struggles and turn them into opportunites for growth. You are invited to participate in at least one (preferably all) of the three core aspects of the programme: daily readings, small groups and weekly worship |
| DAILY READINGS You will receive a programme workbook featuring quotations from the Lord's Word, together with simple summaries, commentaries, and suggestions to help you dig into the richness of the story of Jacob. We've included activities, tasks and journal pages for you to use to help you relate what you discover, to your life. Throughout his story, Jacob undergoes shifts in his awareness, perspective and focus, as well as his expectations, motivations and priorities. Each change brings Jacob a little closer to peace and fulfillment. Using Jacob's story as our inspiration, we are shown how to identify similar problem areas in our own lives, and are gently guided into making those small shifts which cumulatively will significantly change our lives. The activities of the Small Groups expand on and reinforce the workbook. |

SMALL GROUPS A "small group" is a group of people who commit to meet on a weekly basis for seven weeks to support each other through the duration of the programme. These meetings are hosted by facilitators, usually in their own homes. During their meetings the small groups discuss their experiences with the previous week's task, and introduce the following week's material. There is often an activity to reinforce what is being learnt. While active participation in all of these aspects of the group is encouraged, such participation is always voluntary and members are free to "pass" at any time. One of the most fulfilling aspects of this programme is the opportunity to share your journey with others. We will have several Small Groups meeting in the Gauteng area on various days of the week, and at different times. Our registration form lists these groups and indicates where and when they will be meeting. You are free to select the group you wish to join, or ask the pastor or campaign director to help you find a group whose meeting time fits your schedule. |
